Question 1

The general impression gathered from Dao De Jing’s chapters is that it is hard to understand the role of the master and belief from the word go but it soon gets easier. The master should be selfless while visionary at the same time. The Dao refers to the master who is the true leader of his people. This is useful for governments, teachers and all figures in authority as it teaches that leaders should show example and sacrifice self-ambition for the society. The society is a bit complex to achieve this although it is possible.

Question 2

The articles contained in reference to Daoism or Taoism point at the disparity between the two terms as to which is ideal to the Chinese people according to the period. The articles point to the philosophical portrait of the tradition as they seek to establish the preferred manner of representation of the Chinese. Most of the articles in question point to the ancient aspects since they depict the way of life according to the religious and philosophical life’s spheres. Daoism represents the modern ways while Taoism represents the ancient ways of life of the people (Young 6).

Question 3

The Shinto shrines are purely meticulous works of architecture of the Japanese people, considering the time they were established and the civilization (Cali, Dougill and Ciotti 4). The textbook helps in the visualization of the tradition of the people as it shows the kind of houses and forms of life they had. This has an impact from the representation of culture. The images present the religious aspect of the people through the architectural work of the shrines while other shrines depict the simplistic ways of life the people carried especially with the building materials used.
