Firstly, it is important to make known that there are numerous toxins in our environment especially when fire is involved. Carbon monoxide has often gotten all the credit when it comes to the dangers of smoke, whereas Hydrogen Cyanide is rarely noticed. This is the toxin created during the combustion process and may result from the burning of plastic or any other synthetic materials. Pesticides contain harmful substances such as Chlordane that is banned but continuous to affect people by having their presence in old houses. Others such as solvents that contain Benzene and methyl ethyl often attack normal cells and transverse their walls causing irregularities in shape and structure.

The best way to lessen or prevent these injuries is by ensuring that there is limited exposure or complete lack of purchase of these goods. In addition, one may take the initiative of hiring specialists to evaluate the rate of damage or exposure and to find a way to improve the circumstances. Lastly, societal awareness of the dangers of some of the home chemicals and may result in people exercising caution or care in every step of the way.
