Project Evaluation

Statement of the Problem

The Warrior Transition Battalion is part of a flagship of the Army Medicine Department. It provides inpatient and outpatient care, rehabilitative services that are advanced and troop leadership (Rhodes 2014). Its mandate is to give competent leadership through command and control, manage complex cases, planning comprehensive transition and primary care in a safe environment (Rhodes 2014). This environment should promote the most favorable healing for the ill, wounded or injured soldier who might return to the service or transition to normal life as a productive veteran. It is, therefore, of importance to evaluate the operations of the social work group in achieving these requirements and goals.

Review of the Literature

There is an urgent need of an evaluation of the Social Work Program and its effectiveness in the transitioning process of the ill, injured or wounded soldiers into civilian life.

Purpose of the Study

The main purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness of the social work group in transitioning process. The study is of importance because it will assist in checking of the validity of the social program. It will enhance the need for transitioning of the soldiers. It will address the welfare of the soldiers and their families. It will serve to inform the public and those who don not know the plight of the soldier. An insight into what they undergo from the effects of carrying out their duties is studied.

To find out if the organization exhibits excellence, proficiency, care and compassionate leadership

To find out if standard execution is practiced in the mission with selfless and committed staff members

To find out if the transition of the soldiers to civilian life is effective

To obtain feedback from the staff, soldiers and families of the service men

To establish the purpose of the transition

To study implications to the soldiers and their families the effect of poor transitioning to citizen life

Definition of Terms

Transition in the study refers to the re-adjusting of the life from active duty into civilian life. This is after the experiences of having participated in the various rigorous tasks of the force.

There are assumptions taken in the study to accommodate the possibilities of reality in the findings. These include; all soldiers undergo the social work program and the transitioning. All the soldiers are successfully transitioned into civilian life. All soldiers give timely feedback on the results of the transitioning program.

As the study commences, there are challenges to be faced along the way. Time is the first and major limitation of the study. The social program is ongoing and getting ample time to conduct the evaluation is not easy. The study requires funding in its approach; this should be well catered for before and during the study of evaluation. Accessing and interviewing all respondents to get the accurate responses will not be an easy task. This is because the logistics on both the respondents and the one evaluating will hinder the total accounts and experience of each soldier. There will be unwilling respondents to the study.

Issues Arising

A number of factors will limit the validity or scope of the study. The study is concerned with the transitioning process; hence, it will not take to account the personal experiences of the soldiers when they were in active duty. Not all the soldiers will be available for the fact-finding study. The second factor is the measure of the truth in the evidence being collected. Not all respondents will be honest.

Research Methods and Procedures

The population sample under study is former members of the forces who are undergoing the social work program. Some are injured, wounded or ill.

The study will involve numerous interviews from the management, staff and the soldiers for their responses towards the program from a questionnaire containing the vital information. Observation on the operation of the service program will also be recorded. The areas to be tackled include social work program, the transitioning process and reactions from the respondents. This will be recorded down from all the sessions under the headings as stated.

Data Analysis

All the responses from the recorded questionnaires will be analyzed and rated according to the responses given by interviewed personnel. The categories will range from poor, fair, satisfactory and good. This will be the sign of approval of the Social work program, the transition and responses. The evaluation will be based on the approvals, and subsequent recommendations made.
