I think I have been able to gain new perspectives and critical skills and knowledge on the importance of ethical decision-making in my enterprise-learning course. Entrepreneurship, an activity that is primarily concerned with establishment of new businesses is marked by the presence of numerous challenges, a majority of which is laden with ethical implications. I have become aware of the importance of focusing on outcomes of decisions I make in relation to my entrepreneurial activity. Focusing on outcomes ensures optimized decision-making by ensuring that I achieve positive outcomes and minimizing negative results.
I have been able to appreciate and accommodate new values from the enterprise-learning program. I have become appreciative of the importance of diversity in modern business settings (Hendry 47). This is because I value the presence of a diverse workforce in an organization as they provide a source of the much-needed talented labor, skills and knowledge that is critical for an organization to achieve its goals. In addition, I think values such as transparency, honesty, trust and diligence are critical towards ensuring the successful achievement of set out goals and objectives of an enterprise.
I think that adhering to business ethics is imperative for modern organizations that are seeking to compete in volatile international markets. This is primarily due to the overly competitive nature of international markets that are inherently laden with challenges such as unfair business practices, corruption, discrimination, and illegal activities such as tax evasion (Hendry 63). By adhering to set out business ethics and corporate governance standards, organizations are able to avoid litigation and enhance their competitiveness as providers of efficient and reliable products and services. Furthermore, by adhering to business ethics an organization would be able to achieve sustainability and competitive advantage.
